On The Drift this Saturday tune in to catch interviews with two supremos of jazz. Double bassist Barre Phillips has been an ever-present figure on the avant-garde and free jazz circuit for over 50 years. Making a name for himself in the US, performing with jazz figureheads like Jimmy Giuffre and Archie Shepp, Barre has been based in France since 1972. He is currently on his first tour of Australia, culminating in an appearance at the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz and Blues.

Also here for Wangaratta and an appearance at the Recital Centre, French bass clarinettist Denis Colin will be having a chat about his current group La Société des Antipodes, which will feature Melbourne saxophonist Adam Simmons for this tour.
